National University "Lviv Polytechnic"

Being the oldest and largest academic technical educational institution of Ukraine and Eastern Europe Lviv Polytechnic National University is celebrating its glorious 200th anniversary. The University traces its roots from Imperial-Royal Real School in Lviv founded in 1816 that soon became a well-known scientific, intellectual and educational centre, the place where national culture, freedom and democracy were cherished. Today Lviv Polytechnic National University comprises 16 academic institutes, as well as the Institute of Distance Education and the International Institute of Education, Culture and Relations with Diaspora, 10 colleges, 90 research, education and testing laboratories. At present the University trains more than 35 000 students and more than 2000 professionals. The results of the expert rating show that recently Lviv Polytechnic has been among the top 5 higher educational institutions of Ukraine. Improvement of education and research effectiveness, fruitful cooperation with international centres and foundations, formation of innovation infrastructure are the main priorities of Lviv Polytechnic, which ensure its reputation and recognition at present and guarantee its prestige for the future. Campus: twelve halls of residence are combined into a large housing complex where more than 8000 students and post-graduates live, study and rest.
