4 institutions and 6 departments form the basis of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University. Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (NUS) is a leading higher education institution in Ukraine, which trains specialists for shipbuilding and related industries, the maritime industry and other sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
The date of foundation of NUS, as a higher educational institution, is September 18, 1920, when an industrial technical college was opened in Mykolaiv.
Considering the national and international recognition of the results of the activities of the Admiral Makarov Ukrainian State Maritime Technical University, its significant contribution to the development of national education and science, the Presidential Decree of March 25, 2004 approved to grant the university the status of national and to name it "National University of Shipbuilding ».
